Recent imaging enhancements, including the capacity to perform lesion-directed biopsies, have enabled Multiparametric MRI to gain mainstream acceptance in the urologic community. Better image quality results from using 3.0 Tesla magnet. In addition, two new imaging sequences, diffusion and contrast enhancement have been added, transforming state-of-the-art MRI into three scans instead of one. To be accurate multiparametric MRI scanning must be performed at a center using state-of-the-art technology and read by physicians with special experience and training.
